If it’s about golf, we have it at Galion Country Club, and it all begins with Mark Barrier, our club professional for over twenty years. Over the years, Mark has developed an outstanding golf program for all family members at GCC. A wide range of activities are available for anyone interested in golf, from an outstanding youth program all the way to tournaments for seniors only.

Golfers participate in various events and tournaments. The women enjoy a Tuesday morning league and are involved in events such as scrambles, Guest Day, the Ol’ Buddy tournament, the Handicap Tournament, the Junior/Senior Tournament, the Little Brown Jug event and the Ladies Club Championship. The women of the GCC participate in the Mid Ohio Ladies Golf Association (MOLGA) and play several courses in the area.

Our Men’s Golf program consists of league play and, normally, twelve tournaments every year, with a wide variety of formats. Our featured event is the Galion Invitational, held in July, when members invite guests as playing partners. Over the years, we have had participants from all over the United States. In 2008, a Tour Championship Tournament was added to the schedule. Golfers earn their way into this tournament by accumulating points throughout the season.  

In keeping with our focus on family participation, we also offer a series of mixed events such as the Mixed Invitational, Friday night “Ball and Chain,” Moonlight Golf, and Date Night.

Junior Golf (Golf Only Thursdays)

The men's course record is 62, set on the morning of July 3, 1988 by Gary Flick. He broke the existing record of 63, held since 1974 by Derek Kent.  After lunch, Gary played another 18 holes carding a 63.

The women’s course record of 71 was set on August 28, 1984 by Michelle Metzger.
